Teacher Appreciation Week
Please help us celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th! The Spanish Immersion Program
Many of you have heard that next year Robert Frost will host two kindergarten classrooms for the Spanish Immersion Program. This is an exciting change for all of us and the PTO greatly appreciated a visit from Rosa Park’s principal and two representatives from PASI (Parent Advocates for Spanish Immersion). They were able to answer many questions including how PASI will help both Rosa Parks AND Robert Frost’s Immersion Program. They meet monthly and all parents are encouraged to attend. THE WELCOME HOME GARDEN PROJECT
In honor of our military families, the Burpee Seed Company has begun an initiative called “Welcome Home Garden.” The project consists of 10 packets of seeds (8 vegetable packets and 2 flower packets) that they would like to see distribued to military veterans, service members, and their families. The physical packets include Zinnia, Marigold, lettuce, tomato, spinach, sweet pepper, radish, cucumber, carrot, and squash and growing seasons for the regions. The packets are already assembled and recipes are included. Another way to honor the military families would be to grow these flowers and vegetable and when harvested, give them to a veteran or military family that you know in your church, neighborhood, or your friends that have served our country.
The Burpee Company does have a few requirements:
1) If you take the seeds you must agree to PLANT them
2) That credit be given to the Burpee Company
Any photos would be greatly appreciated along with a brief description of the planting project.
If you are interested in receiving seeds for this project, please contact: Sheila.snyder@sdstate.edu or call Sheila at 605-394-2236.
